Origin

The premier 2020 vintage of Vogelsang Große Lage immediately made a statement with 100 Parker points. The Domäne Serrig is a monopole site with around 25 hectares of Riesling, characterized by steep slate slopes (blue and grey slate). These lend the wines cool precision, salty minerality, and enormous depth. The site has been managed by Markus Molitor since 2016 with the highest quality standards.

Winemaking

The grapes are strictly selectively hand-picked and gently pressed. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with natural yeasts, followed by a long aging period in 3000-liter Stockinger wooden barrels on the fine lees. The goal is a maximally transparent, terroir-driven style.

Aroma and Taste

On the nose, citrus, peach, and apricot, accompanied by clear slate minerality. On the palate, tight, vibrant, and precise, with harmoniously integrated acidity and juicy fruit. The fine herbal spice and salty minerality lend depth, while the finish is long, elegant, and puristic.
