Product Information
2022 Chardonnay "Tenth Stop" - Senses Wines - Sonoma Coast
Single Vineyard
Origin
The Tenth Stop Chardonnay is an homage to Occidental, the hometown of the Senses founders. The name refers to the tenth station of the historic North Pacific Coast Railroad. The grapes come from the Sonoma Coast AVA, characterized by a cool coastal climate with fog and wind, which allows for a long ripening period. The marine, well-drained soils provide freshness, precision, and a mineral expression. Senses Wines was founded in 2011 by three childhood friends with the goal of authentically reflecting top sites from Sonoma County in their wines.
Winemaking
The grapes were selectively harvested and gently processed. Vinification is restrained and terroir-focused, with fermentation by native yeasts. Aging took place for 14 months in French oak barrels, about 30% of which were new. The goal is a wine with balance, structure, and subtle oak integration.
Aroma and Taste
The nose reveals honeydew melon, grilled lemon, and hazelnut, accompanied by fine mineral and spicy notes. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and creamy, with dense fruit and fine spice. The finish is long, complex, and characterized by a delicate crème brûlée note.
Food Pairings
Ideal with lobster, scallops, or grilled fish. Also suitable with poultry, creamy sauces, or aged hard cheese. Serve at 10–12 °C.
Vintage Characteristics in the Region
The 2022 vintage on the Sonoma Coast was warm and intense, yet it yielded wines with ripe fruit, dense texture, and clear balance. Chardonnay shows itself to be powerful, complex, and age-worthy.
Conclusion
The 2022 Chardonnay "Tenth Stop" by Senses Wines stands for a powerful yet precise Chardonnay. With dense fruit, fine spice, and mineral tension, it combines coastal freshness with structure and depth, clearly reflecting Senses' terroir-driven philosophy.
