Product Information
2023 Riesling SB dry Wine by Esra & Thorben - Rheinhessen
local wine
Origin:
The 2023 Riesling comes from Bechtolsheim in the heart of Rheinhessen, where Esra Flick and her partner Thorben Maurer have been realizing their joint wine project since 2021. The plots available to them at the Flick family winery are located on sun-drenched hillsides with calcareous and loess-rich soils , which lend the wines freshness, structure, and minerality.
Expansion:
The grapes were hand-picked and, after a brief maceration period, spontaneously fermented . The Riesling then matured for several months on the full lees in stainless steel before being bottled unfined and with minimal sulfur. The conscious avoidance of cellar technology and intervention creates a low-intervention style with authenticity and a clear sense of provenance.
Aroma & Taste:
The wine opens with fresh, citrusy aromas of lime, lemon zest, and green apple , accompanied by a delicate yeasty undertone and subtle herbal notes. On the palate, it is precise, vibrant, and straightforward , with taut acidity, salty minerality, and an invigorating flow that makes you want to take another sip.
Food recommendation:
Ideal as a terrace wine or as a culinary all-rounder with light dishes: for example Asian cuisine with lemongrass and coriander , summer vegetables , grilled fish or fresh seafood .
Special features of the 2023 vintage in Rheinhessen:
2023 in Rheinhessen was characterized by a cool spring and a wet summer, followed by a consistently warm and sunny early autumn. These conditions gave the Rieslings pronounced aromas, precise acidity, and moderate alcohol levels – a vintage that once again emphasized the classic Rheingau freshness .
Conclusion:
The 2023 Riesling dry from Esra & Thorben is a clear, fresh, and minerally-driven Riesling that perfectly combines purism and drinking pleasure. A wine with character and elegance – young, precise, and forward-looking for the new generation of winemakers in Rheinhessen.
