The grapes come from the famous Frankenthal steep vineyard in Assmannshausen, one of the classic Pinot Noir sites of the Rheingau. Located at a high altitude, cool and sheltered by the forest, this vineyard produces precise, vibrant wines. Alexander Schregel interprets this historic terroir in a purist and modern style.

Expansion

The Pinot Noir grapes were hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented in used oak barrels. The base wine matured on the lees until August 2021. Following traditional bottle fermentation, the sparkling wine aged on the lees for 36 months and was disgorged in August 2024. Bottled as Brut Nature without dosage.

Aroma and taste

The nose reveals aromas of wild berries, red currants, and rosehip, complemented by fresh herbs. On the palate, it is taut and precise with lively acidity and mineral freshness. The extended lees aging imparts delicate notes of brioche and bread crust. The mousse is fine and creamy, the finish saline and long.

Dietary recommendations

Ideal as an aperitif and with salmon, poultry terrine, zucchini blossoms, or aged cheese. Also interesting with mildly spicy Asian cuisine. Serve at 8–10 °C.
