Origin

The Domäne Serrig is a unique monopole site on the Saar with around 25 hectares of pure Riesling vineyards. The steep slate slopes (blue and grey slate) produce extremely precise, cool, and mineral wines. Since 2016, Markus Molitor has managed the site with uncompromising precision and highly selective manual labor.

Vinification

Selective manual harvesting of healthy grapes, followed by spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine matures for 10 months on fine lees and additionally long in the bottle, which creates balance, finesse, and inner tension.

Aroma and Taste

On the nose, flint, slate, citrus zest, and apple blossom, complemented by ginger, anise, and cool herbal spice. On the palate, light as a feather and vibrant, with only 9.5 % vol. alcohol and enormous tension. The fine residual sweetness remains in the background, while grapefruit, blood orange, and saline minerality dominate. The finish is long, crystalline, and highly precise.

Food Pairings

Ideal with sushi, Thai curry, seafood, or Asian cuisine with ginger and lime. Also suitable with goat cheese or light desserts. Also an experience as an aperitif or on its own.
