ER4 Rosé Fleur de Miraval - Champagne
single-vineyard wine

Origin:

Fleur de Miraval is a visionary project and the result of a collaboration unique in the champagne world: Brad Pitt , the Perrin winemaking family (Château de Beaucastel, Châteauneuf-du-Pape), and Champagne Pierre Péters from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger combined their expertise to create a rosé champagne of the absolute highest quality. The grapes come exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs , particularly Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the most renowned terroirs for Chardonnay. Strictly limited quantities, uncompromising selection, and a distinct signature make Fleur de Miraval the only champagne house to produce exclusively rosé .

Expansion:

The Cuvée ER4, Exclusivement Rosé 4, is based primarily on the 2019 harvest. It is complemented by an elaborate Réserve Perpétuelle , which contains wines from 2007 to 2018 – as well as rare old vintages dating back 80 years, carefully acquired and newly blended from partner Champagne houses. The blend consists of 75% Chardonnay , supplemented by 25% Pinot Noir from Vertus. Fermentation takes place primarily in stainless steel tanks, while the reserve wines mature in large oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation is omitted to preserve freshness and precision. The blend is followed by 36 months of lees aging in the cellars of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.

Aroma & Taste:

The ER4 is leaner and more energetic than its predecessor (ER3). The nose is dominated by red citrus fruits, grapefruit, lavender, and apple tart , complemented by nutty notes and delicate incense . On the palate, it combines juiciness, precision, and salty minerality , supported by a fine perlage. The balance of fresh fruit and ripe, slightly oxidative nuances gives the champagne depth and complexity. The finish is long, elegant, and playful —a rosé champagne of monumental radiance.

Food recommendation:

Ideal as a festive aperitif, it also makes a fascinating accompaniment to fine dishes: such as scallops with citrus butter , grilled lobster with herbs , poultry terrine with pistachios , or goat cheese with honey and lavender . It also demonstrates its versatility with fruity desserts featuring red berries .

Special features of the 2019 vintage in Champagne:

The 2019 vintage in Champagne is considered very good to excellent . A warm summer with heat waves resulted in high sugar levels, while cool nights kept the grapes aromatically fresh. Ideal conditions in September ensured a consistent, healthy harvest. Must weights were high, and acidity moderate, resulting in powerful, ripe, and balanced wines. For Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs—as in the ER4—2019 was a particularly favorable vintage: precise fruit, a creamy texture, and long aging potential .

Conclusion:

The Fleur de Miraval ER4 combines the elegance of Chardonnay from Le Mesnil with the structure of Pinot Noir and an innovative blend of mature reserve wines. The result is an iconic rosé champagne that already sets standards and has received international recognition with a score of 97 points from James Suckling. Strictly limited, artfully presented, and of the utmost precision – a champagne that has the potential to become a cult wine .
