Grande Réserve Brut Frerejean-Fréres - Champagne
single-vineyard wine
Origin:
Maison Frerejean Frères was founded in 2005 by brothers Guillaume, Richard, and Rodolphe Frerejean Taittinger in Avize , in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. They unite two traditions: the winemaking heritage of the Taittinger family and the entrepreneurial spirit of their father's line, known since the 18th century as master blacksmiths of the famous "Frerejean cannons." This union has given rise to a young, dynamic Champagne house that has earned a reputation for its artisanal precision and patience. Today, Frerejean Frères is considered a close partner of haute cuisine , thanks in part to its collaboration with the Michelin Guide.
Expansion:
The Grande Réserve Brut is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir, and 20% Pinot Meunier , vinified from select Premier and Grand Cru plots, including Cramant, Verzenay, and Grauves. After traditional bottle fermentation, the wine ages on its lees for four years to develop depth, complexity, and a fine, creamy texture.
Aroma & Taste:
On the nose, the Grande Réserve reveals delicate pastry notes, white flowers, and fresh citrus aromas . On the palate, the freshness and precision of Chardonnay combine with the power of Pinot Noir and the fruitiness of Meunier . The perlage is fine and persistent, the structure elegant and harmonious. The finish is long, creamy, and sustained by mineral freshness .
Food recommendation:
A versatile champagne that's perfect as an aperitif, but also pairs well with dishes: grilled scallops with lemon butter , poultry in a white sauce , or risotto with green asparagus . Young Comté or fresh goat's cheese also underscore its elegance.
Special features of the vintage:
As a non-vintage cuvée, the Grande Réserve combines several vintages to ensure the consistent style of the house. The focus is on the balance between freshness, fruit, and ripeness , achieved through long lees aging.
Conclusion:
The Grande Réserve Brut is Frerejean Frères' flagship champagne: a champagne that blends the tradition and modernity of the Côte des Blancs . It embodies the philosophy " Time Reveals " – only patience brings true elegance. With its ties to top chefs and international gastronomy, the Maison is positioning itself as an emerging name in the world of haute cuisine .
