Rosé Brut "Hommage á Gaston Burtin" Maison Burtin - Champagne
local wine

Origin:

Maison Burtin in Épernay was founded in 1933 by Gaston Burtin, a passionate winemaker known for his precision and innovation. With the "Hommage à Gaston Burtin" cuvée, the house honors its founder and his signature style. For the Rosé Brut, the grapes come from 10 select Champagne villages ; the diversity of terroirs lends the cuvée finesse and expressiveness.

Expansion:

The blend consists of 73% Meunier, 16% Chardonnay, and 11% Pinot Noir , with 12% vinified as red wine to enhance the bright color and red fruit aromas. Approximately 20% reserve wines from a solera system provide persistence and additional depth. After bottle fermentation, the Champagne matured on its lees for at least three years . A dosage of 8 g/l creates a classic, balanced Brut style .

Aroma & Taste:

In the glass, the Rosé Brut displays a raspberry pink with ruby-red reflections and a fine perlage. The nose begins florally , then opens to aromatic red fruit with strawberry and raspberry. On the palate, it impresses with a lively, intense freshness , carried by clear strawberry fruit, a creamy texture, and fine spice. The finish is long and elegant, characterized by fruitiness and elegance .

Food recommendation:

This champagne is versatile—excellent with poultry with lemongrass and paprika , lamb curry , or sea bream tartare with avocado and chili . It also makes an excellent aperitif or for summer occasions.

Special features of the 2020 vintage in Champagne:

2020 was a remarkable vintage , marked by a wet winter and extreme drought starting in March. July was the driest on record, yet the grapes remained healthy and highly aromatic . Yields were lower, but the musts displayed balance, fruitiness, freshness, and great aromatic intensity . It is considered another top year, in line with 2018 and 2019.

Conclusion:

The Rosé Brut "Hommage à Gaston Burtin" combines the house's tradition with modern elegance. It showcases the rich red fruit of Meunier in perfect harmony with the freshness of Chardonnay and the structure of Pinot Noir. As part of the Hommage line, it symbolizes the House of Burtin's philosophy of producing champagne with fruit, elegance, and generosity . A champagne for connoisseurs whose signature Gaston Burtin continues to be evident today.
