Herrenhof-Lamprecht

Gottfried Lamprecht is primarily a farmer, but also a winemaker and, ultimately, a craftsman all in one person, along with his Herrenhof-Lamprecht estate.

Located in Markt Hartmannsdorf in the Styrian Volcanic Land, the Herrenhof estate has been producing wine and all other agricultural products since the 19th century.

The "Hausberg" (home mountain) is the Buchertberg, characterized by Opok, calcareous sandstone, and especially by the Gemischter Satz (field blend) which represents an ancient tradition here.

Various grape varieties grow together in the vineyard, such as Weisser, Roter, Blauer Heunisch, Adelfränkisch, Orleans, and many other "forgotten" varieties.

Gottfried goes a step further, as he not only stands for authentic natural wine, cleanly produced with traditional methods as in times past, but also for his self-imposed Herrenhof Charter.

11 principles of wine and origin guarantee, completely without adherence to specific guidelines from Demeter or other associations. Because he wanted to concentrate on the wine and the environment.

“Freestyle Wine Growing” is his way of making wine at Herrenhof. For him, this means working organically in the spirit of sustainability.

We met at VieVinum in May 2024 because I was looking for wines/winemakers that immediately fascinated me and were not yet available in Germany.

So I came to his stand as I had already tasted his wines a few years ago on a wine trip.

The origin and his idea of quality are clearly recognizable in the wines; some might say a bit intellectual, but I like it when you can perceive the personality in the product.
