Herrenhof-Lamprecht
Gottfried Lamprecht is first and foremost a farmer, but also a winemaker and, finally, a craftsman all in one.
Because all these professions are united in his handwriting.
The Herrenhof estate is located in Markt Hartmannsdorf in the volcanic region of Styria. Wine and all other agricultural products have been produced there since the 19th century.
The "local mountain" is the Buchertberg, characterized by opok, calcareous sandstone and, above all, by the Gemischter Satz, which represents an ancient culture here.
Different grape varieties grow together in the vineyard, such as Weisser, Roter, Blauer Heunisch, Adelfränkisch, Orleans and many other "forgotten" varieties.
Gottfried even goes a step further, because he not only stands for genuine natural wine, cleanly produced using traditional methods as in the past, but also for his self-imposed Herrenhof Charter.
11 principles of wine and guarantee of origin, without any obligation to adhere to specific standards set by Demeter or other associations. He wanted to focus on the wine and its surroundings.
"Freestyle Wine Growing" is his way of making wine at the Herrenhof. For him, this means working organically in the spirit of sustainability.
We met at VieVinum in May 2024 because I was looking for wines/winemakers that fascinated me right away and that were not yet available in Germany.
That's how I came to his stand because I had already tasted some of his wines on a wine tour a few years ago.
The origin and his idea of quality are clearly recognizable in the wines; some would say it's a bit cerebral, but I like it when you can perceive the personality in the product.
