Product Information
2022 Pinot Noir „Kanzler“ – Senses Wines – Russian River Valley
Single Vineyard Wine
Origin
The Kanzler Vineyard Pinot Noir comes from the Russian River Valley, one of California's most renowned Pinot Noir regions. The vineyard was planted in 1996 and is located only about 13 km from the Pacific Ocean. The strong maritime influence with fog and cool temperatures allows for a long ripening period and precise aromatics. Senses Wines was founded by three childhood friends with the goal of authentically reflecting top vineyards in their wines. The focus is clearly on terroir, precision, and expression of origin.
Vinification
The grapes were selectively hand-picked and gently processed. Vinification is restrained and terroir-driven, with fermentation by native yeasts. Aging took place for approximately 10 months in French oak barrels, about 35% of which were new. The goal is a wine with clear structure and fine oak integration.
Aroma and Taste
On the nose, raspberry, Bing cherry, and strawberry-rhubarb emerge, accompanied by undergrowth, herbs, and mineral notes. On the palate, the wine is juicy and precise, with fine-grained tannins and vibrant fruit. The finish is long, fresh, and slightly earthy.
Food Pairings
Ideal with duck, poultry, or veal. Also suitable with mushroom dishes or aged hard cheese. Serve at 15–17 °C.
Vintage Specifics in the Region
The 2022 vintage in California was warm and intense, yet in the Russian River Valley, it produced wines with good balance, ripe fruit, and clear structure.
Conclusion
The 2022 Pinot Noir "Kanzler" from Senses Wines represents an elegant, terroir-driven Pinot Noir. With clear fruit, fine spice, and structured freshness, it showcases the signature of a winery that places origin and precision at its core.
