Product Information
2022 Pinot Blanc dry – Florian Reus – Franconia
Village Wine
Origin
The Pinot Blanc from Florian Reus originates from Randersacker in Franconia, characterized by Muschelkalk (shell limestone), loess, and limestone soils. These impart freshness, minerality, and a clear structure to the wine. Reus works with a compromise-free, artisanal, and nature-oriented approach, partly without any machinery in the vineyard – a philosophy that stands for authenticity and terroir faithfulness.
Winemaking
The grapes are selectively hand-picked and gently processed in a basket press (controlled oxidation). Fermentation occurs spontaneously in barriques without temperature control, followed by 12 months of full-lees aging in wood without bâtonnage. The wine is bottled unfiltered and with minimal sulfurization.
Aroma and Taste
On the nose, there are notes of pear, apple, and a nutty, smoky spice, accompanied by delicate vegetal nuances and a salty seashell note. The palate is juicy, taut, and precise, with lively acidity, yeasty notes, and subtle oak spice. The chalky minerality adds depth, and the finish is long, cool, and spicy.
Food Pairings
Ideal with fish dishes, poultry, or refined vegetable cuisine. Also suitable with mushroom dishes or creamy foods. Serve at 10–12 °C.
Vintage Characteristics in the Region
The 2022 vintage yielded aromatically ripe, healthy grapes. After a heatwave, cooler September weeks provided balance and freshness. The wines present themselves as clear, powerful, and precise.
Conclusion
The 2022 Pinot Blanc dry from Florian Reus combines craftsmanship, terroir, and Burgundian style. A mineral, precise, and characterful Pinot Blanc with depth and tension.
