Origin:

The Serrig estate on the Saar River is an impressive monopoly site with approximately 25 hectares of vineyards dedicated entirely to Riesling. The steep, sometimes extremely barren slopes consist predominantly of blue and gray slate , while deeper soils can be found at the foot of the slopes. Approximately five hectares are old vines from the early 1990s , supplemented by new plantings from the Selection Massale of old, ungrafted vines from the Molitor estate. Since taking over in 2016, Markus Molitor has cultivated the estate with the uncompromising precision that has made him one of the leading winemakers on the Moselle.

Expansion:

For the off-dry Vogelsang Kabinett, only healthy grapes were hand-selected. Fermentation took place spontaneously with the vineyard's own yeasts in stainless steel tanks , followed by 10 months of aging on the fine lees. The wine then aged for a further two years in the bottle to develop its balance and finesse. Molitor's Kabinett style combines delicate lightness with tremendous inner tension.

Aroma & Taste:

The 2020 vintage opens with fragrant aromas of citrus fruits, white peach, and apricot , accompanied by fine slate minerality.
