Product Information
2021 TBH Vineyard Pinot Noir – Small Vines – Sonoma Coast
Single Vineyard Wine
Origin
The TBH Vineyard Pinot Noir comes from Small Vines' flagship vineyard in the Green Valley of the Sonoma Coast. The site is characterized by strong coastal influence, fog, and cool nights, which allows for a long ripening period. The fine sandy Goldridge soils over sandstone provide precision, minerality, and structure.
Vinification
The grapes were hand-harvested in the cool night hours and selectively sorted. Fermentation took place with native yeasts, partly with whole-cluster fermentation. Aging took place for approx. 14 months in French barriques. The wine was bottled unfiltered and unfined.
Aroma and Taste
The nose reveals red cherry, raspberry, and floral spice, complemented by subtle forest notes. On the palate, it is precise and vibrant, with fine-grained tannins and natural freshness. The finish is long, cool, and structured.
Food Pairings
Ideal with duck, game, or poultry. Also suitable with mushroom dishes or aged hard cheese. Serve at 15–17 °C.
Vintage Characteristics in the Growing Region
The 2021 vintage in Sonoma County is considered outstanding, with powerful fruit and remarkable balance. A moderate growing season allowed for slow, even ripening with slightly reduced yields.
Conclusion
The 2021 TBH Vineyard Pinot Noir from Small Vines shows a precise, elegant, and at the same time powerful Pinot Noir. With clear fruit, mineral tension, and fine structure, it is one of the expressive wines of the Sonoma Coast.
