Product Information
2024 Riesling trocken – Weingut Alexander Schregel – Rheingau
Estate Wine
Origin
The grapes come from steep Rheingau vineyards with slate, loess, and quartzite soils, which provide minerality and precision. The winery Alexander Schregel was founded in 2020 and is already one of the region's most exciting newcomers. Schregel stands for a puristic, terroir-driven Riesling style with a focus on structure and elegance.
Aging
The grapes were selectively hand-picked and spontaneously fermented. Aging took place in wooden barrels with long lees contact. The wine was bottled unfiltered, minimally sulfured, and unfined to preserve the natural expression of its origin.
Aroma and Taste
The nose reveals lime, green apple, and fresh herbs. On the palate, the wine is tight and invigorating, with lively acidity and salty minerality. The finish is clear, long, and refreshingly crisp.
Food Pairings
Ideal with fish, seafood, or poultry. Also suitable for Asian cuisine or light dishes. Serve at 8–10 °C.
Vintage Characteristics in the Growing Region
The 2024 vintage in the Rheingau was classically cool with a damp spring and balanced summer. The wines show clear acidity, moderate alcohol levels, and precise minerality.
Conclusion
The 2024 Riesling trocken by Alexander Schregel represents a modern, precise, and mineral Riesling. With clear fruit, salty tension, and a puristic style, it impressively demonstrates the signature of one of the most exciting young winemakers in the Rheingau.
