Types of sparkling wine
Sparkling wine is a large and diverse category encompassing various wines, including Champagne, Prosecco, and Cava. These wines are characterized by their carbon dioxide, which is produced during fermentation. The differences between these wines are not only evident in their production but also in their taste.
Sparkling wine production process
The production of sparkling wine is a fascinating process. First, the base wine is made, which then undergoes a second fermentation. This fermentation can take place in the bottle or in a tank. During this phase, the characteristic carbon dioxide is produced. An important step is riddling, in which the bottles are gently turned to remove the yeast particles. Finally, the sparkling wine is disgorged, and often a dosage is added to achieve the perfect flavor. This makes sparkling wine a favorite drink for many occasions.
